About

My name is Shujaut, and currently I am a doctoral student at the Turbulence Simulation and Modeling Laboratory, Department of Aerospace Engineering, Iowa State University. My major research focuses broadly on mathematical & computational modeling of turbulence in a variety of engineering and natural flows. Currently, I am working on the development of an algebraic closure for turbulent flux of a passive scalar within the framework of Large Eddy Simulations (LES). I am also pursuing two subsidiary degrees (graduate minors), one in Applied Scientific Computing and the second in the Department of Physics & Astronomy.

I have always wanted to write about a wide range of subjects that have piqued my curiosity. As far back as I can remember, in primary school through senior high (school), I used to read on the topic of astronomy, physics, and science in general. We didn’t have access to computers, smartphones or internet back then, but I always wanted to communicate, share, and discuss the ideas I read about. Yes, not a computer or the internet, the good old pencil and a notebook came to my rescue to compile my thoughts and organize them in a structured way. After I graduated high school, during my undergraduate days, I was introduced to the world of information technology and since then, I have always had this dream of starting my own blog to communicate and discuss science. During the past decade, I have tried to set up my blog numerous times, but something always hindered me from doing it. Today, after realizing that life is always going to be full of distractions, here I am, finally, checking one big dream of mine off my bucket list!

The posts on this blog are going to be my own reviews and discussion on broad topics of Science, its history and philosophy, and some general philosophical topics too.  The topics will mainly include Fluid Dynamics (Computational, Geophysical & Astrophysical), Complexity and Emergence, Physics, Numerical and Mathematical Methods, and Scientific Computing etc.

The content will be posted to communicate legitimate scientific knowledge and hopefully inspire the reader for further discussion and debate. A basic understanding of science and math on part of the reader is assumed. Please note that the reader is expected to comment responsibly, and that any spammers would be blocked from commenting in the future.
